(CUTTO: Backstage with Jason Tripp. Tripp is standing next to Victoria Hawke.)
TRIPP: "Welcome back to New ERA RAUCOUS. I am Jason Tripp and I am standing here with a woman who has been remarkably quiet the past few months; Victoria Hawke. Victoria, how have you been?"
(She looks at him, her hands on her hips.)
HAWKE: "How have I been? What a petty little question from a petty little man."
(Tripp looks at her almost bewildered.)
TRIPP: "Well, I just wanted to star.."
HAWKE: "I don’t care what your setup was. I have been sitting in the lockerroom each and every show, waiting for an opportunity to go out there and prove my incredible worth to this company. However each and every time that I am here, other people are given the spotlight. I have had to sit back and watch Carlee Marx, Krist Blue, Olivia Lewes, and god knows who else go out there and compete in the ring for the chance to get the Women’s Title. Not once has any come up to me and said ‘Why Victoria, I think now is your time."
TRIPP: "Well the women you’ve named have been very acti.."
HAWKE: "Can it. Lewes is gone. Felicia Hart is gone. Caitlyn Daymon went and got herself pregnant, so now she’s gone. Karla Starr has been given a meal ticket the past year, and not once has she had any REAL competition. Carlee Marx? PLEASE. Now what do I hear? But we have a new, supposedly fantastic new female wrestler in New ERA? Well I’ve searched high and low for footage on this Foxx character, and quite honestly, she couldn’t hold a candle to the ability that I bring to the ring."
TRIPP: "Well isn’t that a bit presumptuous? We haven’t even seen Foxx wrestle in New ERA yet."
HAWKE: "I’ve seen enough to make that call, little man. If this is New ERA’s plan on revitalizing the Women’s Division, than they have put their eggs in a basket with no bottom. Foxx isn’t going to save New ERA from Karla Starr’s less than adequate leadership. Only Victoria Hawke can do that! And when I am done with New ERA’s women …. The title will rest around MY waist, and THEN we will have a real champion."
(Victoria Hawke shoves the microphone back into Tripp’s hands and walks away.)
TRIPP: "Well there you have it. Victoria Hawke seems like she is ready for her close up here in New ERA of Wrestling, and she has immediately ripped into New ERA’s latest addition, Foxx. Back to you guys at ringside."
(CUTTO: The announce table. Dean Julius has mysteriously returned, no water to be seen.)
JULIUS: "Well that’s what I like to see. A feisty foreign woman with a nice rack."
JIVE: "Nice of you to skip out on our last match."
JULIUS: "You’re just jealous that you didn’t do it first."
GHEORGHE: "Victoria Hawke with strong words to the rest of her division, and I’m sure now with her seemingly ready to get back into active competition that the Women’s Division will heat right back up. But coming up next is a match that was caused by the events leading up to International Intrigue’s main event … Jonathan Marx was supposed to team with the Masked Man, after the Masked Man took John Doe’s place in the Chamber Cage Match … but with the Phantom Republican attacking Marx and tying him up … it didn’t turn out that way."
JULIUS: "If anything, Marx should be gunning for Phantom Republican right now."
GHEORGHE: "I think right now its more of an honor deal for Jonathan Marx. The Masked Man broke up DREDD’s chances of taking out Rabesque at International Intrigue … and now he’s going to take it to the Masked Man out of respect for John Doe."
JIVE: "The Masked Man should have just joined forces with DREDD … they are both aiming for a common enemy."
GHEORGHE: "Well it turned out he didn’t want or need DREDD’s help .. and right now we’re going to see these two men go at it!"
(CUTTO: In the ring with Carl Jacobs. The lineup for this match falls from the top of the screen before crashing to the bottom.)
JACOBS: "The following match is scheduled for one fall and has a thirty minute time limit … introducing first…"
(CUEUP: ‘The Touch’ by Stan Bush. Jonathan Marx and the rest of DREDD come out from behind the curtain to a mixture of cheers and jeers. They head to the ring as a unified group.)
JACOBS: "Being led to the ring by his fellow DREDD teammates … hailing from Princeton, New Jersey…. ‘Gentleman’ JONATHAN MARX!!"
(Marx rolls into the ring as the rest of DREDD stays on the outside. Marx climbs onto the second turnbuckle and stretches his arms out. The crowd pops as a man in black rolls underneath the bottom ropes on the far side and clobbers Marx from behind, throwing him off the second rope to the mat.)
JIVE: "THE MASKED MAN JUST ATTACKED JONATHAN MARX FROM BEHIND!"
(SFX: Bell rings.)
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx struggles to get back to his feet after being caught off guard .. and the Masked Man takes him down to the mat with an arm bar…. And now the Masked Man has him locked in a crossface! Jonathan Marx quickly breaks free and ducks under the arm back to his feet! The Masked Man back up … and he ducks underneath a Marx clothesline attempt … BUT DOESN’T MANAGE TO AVOID THE REVERSE CRESCENT KICK!"
JULIUS: "Jonathan Marx is a superb technical wrestler …. This Masked Man needs to watch out, because Marx can take his ass to the cleaners whenever he damn well pleases!"
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx was a tremendous amateur wrestler, and he’s honed his craft very well. One of the best in the business. Marx now grabs the Masked Man and picks him up … and he plops him down with an inverted atomic drop. Marx grabs the arm … AND HOISTS HIM UP AND OVER WITH A BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! DREDD is on the outside and John Doe with a golf clap cheers on his buddy."
JIVE: "Did he honestly just say ‘buddy?’"
GHEORGHE: "Keep quiet, Nick. Jonathan Marx now waits for the Masked Man to get to his feet…. The Masked Man comes after Marx, but Marx with a drop toe hold sends him back to the mat… and now Marx floats over the top and has him locked in a headlock! Marx wrenches on the head a few times trying to apply more pressure … but the Masked Man uses his strength .. and now both men are on their feet! AND THE MASKED MAN HOOKS HIS WAIST AND CRASHES DOWN TO THE MAT WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! The Masked Man rolls on top … ONE …….. TW—KICKOUT!"
JIVE: "Now the Masked Man is showing some skills…."
GHEORGHE: "We all know very well that this Masked Man is a very good wrestler …."
JULIUS: "I just wish we all knew who the hell he is!"
JIVE: "I already know!"
GHEORGHE: "For the last time, Nick .. it is NOT Lindsay Troy.. we’ve already gone over this … its been done before."
JULIUS: "I know Troy is manly, but there’s no way that’s her… unless she’s shaved her arm hair…."
GHEORGHE: "Dean! That’s horrible!"
JIVE: "You both are idiots. I’m telling you .. when this breaks … you both will be pissing in your pants."
GHEORGHE: "Both wrestlers are back on their feet again …. And the Masked Man irish whips Jonathan Marx into the ropes…. Marx on the return hops over the back of the Masked Man and hits the other ropes … Marx on the return … AND THE MASKED MAN GRABS HIM AND POWERSLAMS HIM TO THE MAT!"
JIVE: "The Masked Man was quick with that powerslam .. I think Marx half expected him to drop to the mat so he could go over him again!"
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man now with a head of hair brings Marx back to his feet … and now the Masked Man with an inverted atomic drop! The Masked Man with a kick to the gut … and he hits Marx with a Kickswing DDT! Masked Man with another cover …. ONE ……… TWO ….. and a kickout by Marx at 2.15!"
JULIUS: "DREDD is the key to this match. Right now Marx, Brandon Jacobs, John Doe and Carlee Marx are all one on side, and the Masked Man is on the other… it is simple math to see who comes out on top in this match."
JIVE: "Didn’t you fail mathematics in high school?"
JULIUS: "I AM A HISTORY / ENGLISH PERSON."
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man gets back to his feet and takes a moment to step back and think of some strategies … and it seems like he’s gotten an idea. The Masked Man waits for Jonathan Marx to get to his feet …. Marx up … and Marx went for a kick to the gut, but now the Masked Man has a hold of his right leg! Marx hopping on one foot right now pleading with the Masked Man ….. The Masked Man swings him around and goes for a clothesline .. But Marx ducks! The Masked Man turns around .. and Jonathan Marx with a shot to the gut … and he hits a swinging neckbreaker on the Masked Man! Both men go to the mat!"
JIVE: "Marx can turn a match around like that … pure wrestling runs through his veins … and he seizes any opportunity he can get."
GHEORGHE: "Marx grabs onto the Masked Man’s legs … and he’s trying to lock on a Figure Four!"
JULIUS: "That’s just what the Masked Man needs right now … Jonathan Marx locking on Jean Rabesque’s signature move…"
JIVE: "Oh come on, Julius.. everyone knows Rabesque’s signature move is the Geriatric Stomp…"
GHEORGHE: "That’s the World Champion you guys are talking about…"
JULIUS: "Hopefully after tonight you’ll mean EX-World Champion!"
GHEORGHE: "Marx almost has the hold locked on … BUT THE MASKED MAN POWERS HIS WAY OUT OF IT!"
JULIUS: "And Marx just fell flat on his ass!"
GHEORGHE: "Marx back on his feet … and he goes right aft.. no! The Masked Man just yanked his feet from underneath him!"
JULIUS: "And he falls flat on his ass again!"
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man now on his feet … and he drags Jonathan Marx over to the corner…. The Masked Man rolls underneath the bottom rope to the outside … and drags Marx out with him!"
JIVE: "As long as they stay over there and don’t come near us, then go for it."
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man picks Marx up … and he irish whips him right into the guardrail! Marx hit the guardrail hard … AND THE MASKED MAN RUNS IN WITH A KNEE LIFT! The Masked Man now … IRISH WHIPS MARX RIGHT INTO THE RINGSTEPS!"
JIVE: "The fans liked that!"
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man now picks up the top part of those stairs … AND HE’s GOING TO TOSS THEM ON MARX!"
JULIUS: "Not if DREDD has anything to say about it!"
GHEORGHE: "Carlee Marx runs over and she is getting in the face of the Masked Man … AND JOHN DOE FROM BEHIND RIPS THE TOP PART OF THE STAIRS OUT OF THE HANDS OF THE MASKED MAN! The Masked Man turns around to hit Doe … AND CARLEE MARX DROPS DOWN AND NAILS HIM RIGHT IN THE BABYMAKER!"
JIVE: "And Brandon Jacobs had the referee tied up so he didn’t see a damn thing! I love DREDD! What teamwork!"
GHEORGHE: "This is a singles match, Nick!"
JIVE: "And?"
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx helped to his feet by John Doe … and now both of them are laying the boots into the Masked Man … and Doe and Carlee Marx now leave Jonathan Marx alone as the referee comes over to see what is going on."
JULIUS: "A tad too late though."
GHEORGHE: "The referee now putting the count on both men .. and Jonathan Marx picks up the Masked Man … and he sends him flying into the turnpost! The Masked Man just went shoulder first into the steel post … AND MARX FOLLOWS IT UP WITH A CLOTHESLINE! Jonathan Marx rolls the Masked Man into the ring … and now he’s going up top!"
JIVE: "I think Marx can smell the end of the match coming.."
GHEORGHE: "Marx straddles the top rope … and he flies off with an elbow dro… NO! The Masked Man rolled out of the way and Marx hit nothing but mat!"
JULIUS: "That mat is a cruel mistress if there’s nothing there to break the fall."
JIVE: "Like you’d know anything about how hard a wrestling mat is.."
JULIUS: "Just like you know mistresses, Jive?"
GHEORGHE: "A rare miss, Dean."
JULIUS: "I can’t be witty and cunning all the time, Gheorghe .. don’t want to make you two look TOO bad my first night here."
GHEORGHE: "Both men lying on the mat as the toll of this match is starting to wear on them … the referee’s count is at five .. six… and now they’re starting to move. Both men using the opposite corner’s ropes to get to their feet .. and they’re both up!"
JIVE: "I don’t know who is in worse shape here.."
GHEORGHE: "Marx comes out of the corner first and he puts his arms up for a double axe handle… but the Masked Man with a shot to the gut and he ducks behind the ‘Gentleman’…. And the Masked Man drives the face of Marx into the mat! The Masked Man back to his feet … he brings Marx up … AND HE LOCKS ON A SLEEPER!"
JIVE: "At this point in the match, the Sleeper Hold might just knock Marx out!"
GHEORGHE: "Marx is fighting it … I don’t think the Masked Man can get his hand hooked on his forearm … and Marx elbows his way out! Jonathan Marx with another elbow … and now Marx bounces off the ropes and comes in …. BUT THE MASKED MAN HITS THE FALLAWAY SLAM! The cover… ONE …….. TWO ………. THREE---NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Marx gets the shoulder up!"
JULIUS: "I think DREDD was about to storm the ring there. I would hate to be the Masked Man should Marx not kick out next time."
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man rolls off of Jonathan Marx and now sits up. The Masked Man looks around as he tries to think of what else he can throw at his opponent…"
JIVE: "If I were the Masked Man .. I’d keep the pressure on fast and furious .. one of these times Marx isn’t going to squeak out of it."
GHEORGHE: "Wait a minute … Carlee Marx is on the ring apon … and she has the referee’s full attention!"
JULIUS: "I think the referee just hit on her!"
GHEORGHE: "New ERA referee’s wouldn’t do that, Dean .. that would get them fired."
JIVE: "Plus, only a blind referee would hit on Carlee Marx."
GHEORGHE: "John Doe now creeping over to the corner… AND DOE IS IN THE RING!"
JIVE: "He better be careful .. he’s got a Falls Count Anywhere match with Chaos coming up next!"
JULIUS: "I bet Chaos is salivating right now."
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man up and he turns … Doe with a left hook.. BUT THE MASKED MAN DUCKS! The Masked Man locks Doe … AND HE HITS HIM WITH AN OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX! John Doe hits the mat and immediately slides to the outside!"
JIVE: "And now the referee turns and wonders what the hell is going on."
GHEORGHE: "Carlee Marx is now yelling at the Masked Man … AND THE MASKED MAN IS COMING OVER TO HER!"
JULIUS: "Talk about Jonathan Marx using all his assets .. jeez."
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man comes over .. and he’s got a hold of Carlee Marx …. AND NOW CARLEE MARX IS DESPERATELY TRYING TO RIP THE MASK OFF HIS HEAD!!"
JULIUS: "We might find out who this Masked Man is sooner than later."
GHEORGHE: "Wait … Jonathan Marx is up … Marx charges in .. and he knocks into the Masked Man … AND SUNSET FLIPS INTO A PIN … ONE ………. TWO ………. THREE! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! The Masked Man kicked out at the last second!"
JIVE: "Carlee Marx was knocked off the apron, but luckily Brandon Jacobs caught her!"
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx looks over relieved, and now he goes down to the mat and starts wailing away! Marx grabs the head of the Masked Man and bashes it into the mat a few times before he gets to his feet. Marx brings the Masked Man up to his feet … he sends the Masked Man to the ropes …. AND HITS A SPINEBUSTER ON THE RETURN! Marx down for the cover… ONE ………… TWO ……… THREE!! THE MASKED MAN KICKED OUT!"
JULIUS: "Marx turning up the heat, but the Masked Man still managing to hop out of the pot."
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx hits the mat in despair and now he gets to his feet and looks at his teammates almost to say ‘what else do I have to do?’… Marx grabs the Masked Man and drags him into the corner … Marx props him up into the corner… AND HE IS TAKING HIM UP TOP!"
JIVE: "When all else fails … increase the damage ability."
GHEORGHE: "This is a high risk thing to do this late in the match … I just hope that Jonathan Marx knows what he is doing."
JULIUS: "This man is a second generation wrestler, Gheorghe… he knows full well what he is doing. To insinuate otherwise is a slap in his face!"
GHEORGHE: "I just meant…"
JULIUS: "Oh, I think I know damn well what you meant."
GHEORGHE: "Uh… well … Marx has the Masked Man on the top rope …. He hooks his head ….. and he tries to take him up and over… but the Masked Man has his bottom foot hooked underneath!"
JIVE: "Marx’s plan might backfire here!"
GHEORGHE: "Marx tries again but the Masked Man blocks it again…. And here is John Doe to interfere once more! Doe runs over … and he knocks the foot of the Masked Man out of place …. AND JONATHAN MARX TAKES THE MASKED MAN OVER AND SUPERPLEXES HIM TO THE MAT! Both men hit the mat and neither is moving!"
JULIUS: "That John Doe is a good kid, you know."
GHEORGHE: "DREDD is doing their best to screw the Masked Man … and I think they might have just succeeded there!"
JIVE: "He shouldn’t have gotten involved in their affairs, Gheorghe."
GHEORGHE: "The referee’s count is up to six now … and Jonathan Marx is the first person to make a move! Marx crawling over to the Masked Man… and he drapes his arm across his chest… ONE …………… TWO ………………. THREEE!!!!!"
JIVE: "NO!"
JULIUS: "YES!!"
GHEORGHE: "THE MASKED MAN KICKED OUT!"
JULIUS: "How!"
GHEORGHE: "I don’t know! Jonathan Marx is on his feet right now .. and he yells over to Carlee Marx… Marx turns her back … and now Jonathan Marx brings the Masked Man to his feet!"
JIVE: "What did he yell to her?"
GHEORGHE: "I don’t know … Jonathan Marx grabs the arm of the Masked Man … and he irish whips him into the ropes near Carle… no! The Masked Man reverses it ….. AND CARLEE MARX ISN’T LOOKING AND SHE TRIPS UP HER BROTHER!"
JULIUS: "Boy did that not work out like Jonathan Marx planned!"
GHEORGHE: "Jonathan Marx gets up on his feet and turns and starts yelling at Carlee… BUT HERE COMES THE MASKED MAN! Carlee yells for Jonathan Marx to watch out … Marx turns … AND HE GETS A BOOT IN THE STOMACH … The Masked Man now brings him into the center of the ring … T-BONE SUPLEX!!!"
JIVE: "The Masked Man has just looked over at DREDD on the outside and shook his head!"
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man brings Jonathan Marx to his feet …. AND HITS A GERMAN SUPLEX WITH A BRIDGE……….. ONE ………………. TWO ……………… THREEE!"
JULIUS: "MARX KICKED OUT!"
(SFX: Bell rings.)
JIVE: "NO HE DIDN’T!"
JACOBS: "The winner of this match via pinfall …… at 27 minutes 49 seconds ….. THE MASKED MAN!"
GHEORGHE: "The Masked Man quickly rolls out of the ring as DREDD storms in … and he did it! The Masked Man gets the victory tonight of Jonathan Marx in a hard fought, well wrestled match .. and if that doesn’t exemplify what New ERA is all about, than I don’t know what does!"
JULIUS: "Cheap booze and even cheaper women?"
GHEORGHE: "This isn’t Nick Jive’s house…"
JIVE: "HEY!"
GHEORGHE: "Ha, ha.. The Masked Man with a well deserved victory … but we have GOT to take a commercial break… when we come back though … another DREDD member, John Doe, will take on the current P©X Champion Chaos in a non-title Falls Count Anywhere match…."
