(FADEIN: The Office of New ERA President Marcus LaRoque. He has just sat down in his chair when the door to his lockerroom is thrown open. Juliet Marceau comes in, her hair all over the place, as she looks vehemently at LaRoque.)
LaROQUE: "Did seeing Hayze out there get you off?"
MARCEAU: "SHUT … UP! How dare you let them get in the ring together at International Intrigue!"
LaROQUE: "What do you mean? For the past few months they’ve been going at each other like a bunch of rabid dogs. We need to end this at International Intrigue before we start losing guys because of their carelessness."
MARCEAU: "THE PHANTOM REPUBLICAN WAS SUPPOSED TO RID US OF RABESQUE AS CHAMPION AT INTERNATIONAL INTRIGUE!"
(LaRoque sits back in his chair and throws his feet on the desk. While placing his hands behind his neck in a relaxing position, he glances over at Marceau.)
LaROQUE: "And what makes you think that the Phantom Republican is going to take the title away in the first place?"
(Marceau is caught off guard by the question as she’s usually not challenged by LaRoque.)
MARCEAU: "Excuse me?"
LaROQUE: "I said … what makes you think that the…"
MARCEAU: "No, I know what you said."
LaROQUE: "Then why ask?"
MARCEAU: "The longer Rabesque is champion the longer that I have to look at him go out there and hobble around."
LaROQUE: "Well, until someone beats him, he’s going to remain champion. Right now, DREDD is causing far too many problems and I don’t need them roaming around the back and attacking anyone who looks remotely like Jean Rabesque from behind."
MARCEAU: "All they have to do is look for the yellow streak!"
LaROQUE: "Listen. Rabesque and Hayze are facing DREDD in this match … it’s non-title .. and it’s a match that’s going to end this one way or another. The Phantom Republican is getting his title shot on RAUCOUS after International Intrigue and that’s the end of it. Good night, Juliet."
(Marceau looks wide eyed at Marcus LaRoque. She opens her mouth to respond.)
MARCEAU: "Bu…"
LaROQUE: "GOOD NIGHT."
(Marceau takes a few steps back looking at LaRoque, who is focusing on some papers. She quickly turns and walks out of the office, slamming the door shut as she leaves. LaRoque looks up at the door and smiles as we cut to ringside.)
GHEORGHE: "And look at that! Juliet Marceau was finally stepped up to by New ERA President Marcus LaRoque .. and the main event for the PPV stands as is!"
JIVE: "But you can see where Marceau is coming from! The longer Rabesque is champion, the larger the drop off of our shows are! I mean, when you look at the ratings tomorrow … there’s going to be a huge drop in the numbers for the last match. Rabesque is the best damn sleep aid in the country right now."
GHEORGHE: "Oh come on!"
JIVE: "It’s true! I mean, Rabesque is lik…"
GHEORGHE: "Ladies and gentlemen we are just a few moments from our main event… ‘the Dog of War’ Jason Payne has gone through Jay .. he’s gone through Cameron Cruise .. and now he gets his shot at the New ERA Television Champion, MWG!"
JIVE: "Payne is going to get his shot at the title … but I highly doubt that he’ll be able to muster enough mental strength against the mind games of MWG!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG has a definite advantage over most of his opponents in that aspect … but there seems to be something that Jason Payne has up his sleeve. I mean, who was that person he met with before we went off the air?"
JIVE: "I don’t know, Tom. He’s promised us something special … let’s hope for his sake, he can deliver!"
GHEORGHE: "Let’s go down to Carl Jacobs for the introductions!"
(CUTTO: Carl Jacobs. The main event lineup flashes on screen, with the New ERA Television Title prominent on the display.)
JACOBS: "Ladies and gentlemen, the following match up is tonight’s MAIN EVENT …. And is for the New ERA of Wrestling TEEEEELLLLLLEEEEEEEEVIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSIONNNNNNNNN CHAMPIONSHIP! Introducing first…"
(CUEUP: ‘Faggot’ by Mindless Self Indulgence. The crowd pops as MWG and Krist Blue come through the curtain. MWG is wearing a zebra print trench coat, the Television title once again hanging from the front of his tights.)
JACOBS: "He hails from wherever the birds sing and the sun shines … being led to the ring by KRIST BLUE ….. standing six foot three and weighing 232 pounds …. He is the current New ERA of Wrestling TELEVISION CHAMPION ………… EM DUBBYA GEE!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG looks a little different tonight, Nick."
JIVE: "He does! I can’t really tell what it is about him…"
GHEORGHE: "He looks .. focused!"
JIVE: "Yes! MWG is looking mighty intense right now ..."
JACOBS: "And his opponent…."
(SFX: The fans pop as the lights go out…)
GHEORGHE: "The lights have gone out… and I don’t know what’s happening!"
(Small pyro goes off up the stage creating a "machine gun" like effect. Over the PA system you hear marching, and orders being barked out on top of small arms fire.)
JIVE: "What the hell is going on?"
(The fans in attendance are shocked, and then pop huge, as huge pyro explosions go off on the stage. The screaming over the PA system becomes muddled until one final voice is heard.)
VOICE: "NO!! NOO!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
(SFX: A wolf howling…)
JIVE: "You’ve got to be shitting me."
(CUEUP: ‘the Dog of War’ by Pink Floyd. The fans EXPLODE as Jason Payne walks through the curtain with a familiar face.)
GHEORGHE: "CHRIS MCMILLAN!!! THE DOGS OF WAR ARE TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!"
(Chris McMillan and Jason Payne are dressed in their old Dogs of War uniforms from when they were a tag team. The camouflaged pants, matching cut off tees with the Dog of War emblem on them, and black boots. They walk to the ring and force MWG and Krist Blue to go to the outside.)
JACOBS: "Being led to the ring by his former tag team partner ‘the Wolf’ Chris McMillan …. He stands six foot six and weighs 275 pounds … hailing from Payneville, Kentucky ……….. ‘the DOG of WAR’ JASON PAYNE!!"
(SFX: Bell rings!)
GHEORGHE: "This bell has rung … AND CHRIS MCMILLAN has come out to support his former rival and tag team partner, Jason Payne!"
JIVE: "And look at them… they’re both on the opposite turnbuckle pads posing like they did way back in the 70’s."
GHEORGHE: "It wasn’t that long ago, Nick!!"
JIVE: "Well thank God he’s here for one night only… I don’t think I could handle having to call his matches again!"
GHEORGHE: "Chris McMillan and Jason Payne … the former Dogs of War …. And they’re looking to help get Payne the New ERA Television title!"
JIVE: "Well it’s about time McMillan got out of the ring! Now MWG can get back in … although I’m sure MWG would have loved a gang bang with two military men."
GHEORGHE: "Both men are in the ring and Jason Payne is very cautiously getting closer to MWG …. They lock up … and each man is trying to get the upperhand."
JIVE: "Payne is trying to cover all bases as he knows MWG gets a kick out of taking advantage of his opponents."
GHEORGHE: "Payne wins the power war and has a hold of MWG’s arm …. And Jason Payne takes him down with a clothesline! MWG hops right back up … and Payne with another clothesline sends him back to the mat! MWG a little more tentative in hopping back up … Payne comes in after him … AND MWG WITH A FIREMAN’s CARRY TAKES THE DOG OF WAR TO THE MAT!"
JIVE: "MWG is very good on his knees."
GHEORGHE: "Thanks, Nick. MWG and Payne both on their feet now .. Jason Payne grabs MWG by the waist … but MWG with an elbow shot to the face backs him up! MWG follows it up with a dropkick and Payne goes down! These two men have quite a match to go, and MWG is starting things off pretty traditionally."
JIVE: "MWG likes his pain to be prolonged .. its like being asphyxiated while having an orgasm."
GHEORGHE: "What?!"
JIVE: "From what I’ve heard."
GHEORGHE: "MWG grabs Jason Payne by the head and tosses him into the corner … and MWG driving the shoulder into the midsection! MWG stands up … AND HE JUST SLAPPED PAYNE ACROSS THE FACE!! Jason Payne CLOBBERS MWG with a right fist! Payne with ANOTHER! AND PAYNE WITH A SPEAR TAKES MWG DOWN TO THE MAT!!! JASON PAYNE IS NOW DRILLING A HOLE INTO THE TELEVISION CHAMPION’s SKULL!"
JIVE: "MWG with a sign of disrespect … and something that you don’t do is disrespect a former member of the armed forces… even if he was dishonorably discharged!"
GHEORGHE: "Speaking of which, we haven’t seen Sean Senn recently … I’m sure he’s in the back right now watching this match very intently."
JIVE: "Senn came out and verbally assaulted Payne … but with Chris McMillan out there, I don’t think we’ll see him make any motion to change that to a physical attack tonight."
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne on his feet now … he grabs MWG by the hair and yanks him up … and now Jason Payne places MWG on his shoulder …. AND DRIVES HIM INTO THE MAT WITH A POWERSLAM!"
JIVE: "Payne flung MWG over his shoulder like he was a ragdoll … and MWG had no chance to get out of the powerslam."
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne with the cover …. ONE …….. kickout! MWG gets out of the pin easily … and now he’s back on his feet."
JIVE: "It’s going to take more than that to beat the Television Champion!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne with the elbow … but MWG moves out of the way! The challenger is holding his elbow … and MWG is slowly getting to his feet! MWG walks over to Jason Payne… but Payne with a shot to the gut! MWG comes in again … and Payne with another shot! MWG comes in a third time …. AND PAYNE THROWS THE PUNCH …. BUT MWG GRABS IT AND DRIVES HIS ELBOW INTO THE MAT!!! MWG has the cross face submission locked on!"
JIVE: "Jason Payne left his entire body open with those punches … and it took MWG three times before he was able to take advantage of it! Now he’s got that cross face locked on and Jason Payne has got to find some way to get out of it …"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne reaching for the ropes, but I don’t think that’s a feasible solution."
JIVE: "Those ropes are a good half foot away .. Payne would have to be Stretch Armstrong to reach them."
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne not giving in as the ref checks in on him …AND PAYNE ROLLS MWG OVER AND HAS HIM PINNED!! ONE …… TWO---NOOOOO!! MWG kicks out! MWG hops back to his feet and now he’s driving those boots right into the side of Jason Payne! The Television Champion drives a knee into the side of Jason Payne …. And now he brings him up to his feet!"
JIVE: "MWG has done a good job so far at keeping the Dog of War on the mat … he worked over the elbow, then went for the cross face … he’s going to have to work on that upper body to make sure that Payne isn’t able to power his way to the Television title."
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne is a fine technical wrestler as well … and MWG hooks his arms … AND TAKES HIM OVER WITH A BUTTERFLY SUPLEX! The Television Champion now over Jason Payne … AND HE IS CHOKING HIM! The ref counts …. TWO … THREE … FOUR … and MWG lets off …. MWG up and he drops the leg across the chest of Jason Payne …"
JIVE: "Wait! Krist Blue is starting to make her way over towards Chris McMillan!"
GHEORGHE: "Blue takes a few steps towards the other side of the ring … and I think she’s trying to get his attention…. MWG is back up though … and he drags Jason Payne to his feet …. MWG with an irish whip … AND PAYNE HITS THE TURNBUCKLE CHEST FIRST! Payne stumbles out …. BUT MWG GRABS HIS HEAD AND BULLDOGS HIM TO THE MAT!! MWG with the cover …. ONE ………. TWO---NOOOOOO!! ‘The Dog of War’ kicks out before two!"
JIVE: "MWG still hasn’t done anything unorthodox to Jason Payne yet … the lack of touching is really freaking me out, Tom."
GHEORGHE: "Well, I think we all know how much you like it when MWG molests his opponents…"
JIVE: "Heeeyyy!"
GHEORGHE: "But MWG seems focused tonight on beating Jason Payne mano a mano …. And he goes right back to the cross face! MWG has the arm of Jason Payne stuck … and he is yanking back on the head of the challenger …."
JIVE: "I think that MWG should have pulled him a little bit further out though … Jason Payne is much close to the ropes than he was the first time."
GHEORGHE: "Payne is reaching for the ropes … BUT MWG JERKS BACK AND PAYNE GRABS THE HANDS OF MWG TO TRY TO PRY THEM OFF HIM!"
JIVE: "He’s not going to be able to do that with just one hand … MWG has a death grip when it comes to holding onto heads…"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne reaches out again … AND THIS TIME HE GRAZES THE BOTTOM ROPES WITH HIS FINGER! The referee calls for the break … ONE … TWO … THREE … FOUR …. And MWG releases the hold!"
JIVE: "MWG is taking the referee to the four count … which is smart on his part. Hold out until the last possible second and then release the hold before you get disqualified."
GHEORGHE: "MWG places Jason Payne between the ropes … and he bounces off the far ropes…"
JIVE: "Smart move … jump on Payne’s back and strangle him legally with the middle rope!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG on his way back …. WHAT A MANUEVER!!!! MWG GRABBED THE TOP ROPE AND SWUNG HIS FEET AROUND AND KICKED JASON PAYNE IN THE FACE WITH HIS BOOTS! Payne flies off the ropes and is back on the mat!"
JIVE: "Back home we call that a 781!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG now heading to the top rope!! AND HE FLIES OFF WITH THE ELBOW SMASH! The cover …. ONE ……… TWO ………. KICKOUT!!"
JIVE: "And yet Jason Payne still kicking out of the pinfalls … MWG is going to have to come up with something else to get this man down!"
GHEORGHE: "Chris McMillan now barking out some orders for Jason Payne to get back in control… MWG picks Payne up … and he places his head between his legs ….. MWG with the pile… NO! JASON PAYNE REVERSES IT AND BACK BODY DROPS MWG TO THE MAT!"
JIVE: "MWG landed awkwardly and is holding his back!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne struggling to get to his feet …. AND WHERE DID KRIST BLUE GO?"
JIVE: "Wait a minute … where is she?! She’s disappeared!"
GHEORGHE: "Ladies and gentlemen … Krist Blue was just at ringside… now I have no clue where she is!"
JIVE: "It’s like she disappeared into thin air!"
GHEORGHE: "WHAT’S THAT! CHRIS MCMILLAN IS BEING GRABBED BY THE CROTCH FROM UNDERNEATH THE RING!"
JIVE: "I think we found her!"
GHEORGHE: "KRIST BLUE HAS A HOLD OF MCMILLAN’s BALLS! McMillan trying to get her off … and here comes Jason Payne …. Payne over to MWG ……. AND MWG WITH A SMALL PACKAGE BY THE ROPES!!! ONE ………… TWO ……… BUT PAYNE KICKS OUT!"
JIVE: "And McMillan gets away! Krist Blue’s distraction could have cost Jason Payne the match … McMillan was distracted and didn’t even see MWG pull out the small package."
GHEORGHE: "MWG and Payne back up …. Jason Payne with the irish whip …. He comes back … AND MWG DUCKS THE CLOTHESLINE! MWG against the ropes again …. BUT HE CAN’T AVOID THE SPINEBUSTER AND MWG IS DRIVEN INTO THE MAT! Jason Payne gets back to his feet …… AND HE LOCKS THE ARMS OF MWG BEHIND HIS LEGS AND HAS APPLIES A SURFBOARD!"
JIVE: "One of my favorites … and you very rarely see it used these days!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG screaming out … but he’s not submitting! AND THE REFEREE IS COUNTING JASON PAYNE’s SHOULDERS DOWN! ONE ………… TWO ………… THR—NOOOO PAYNE RELEASES THE HOLD!"
JIVE: "Payne was caught off guard as the referee was counting and didn’t realize his shoulders were down. You can’t make a mistake like that or else you walk out without the title!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne gets back to his feet … he grabs MWG and picks him up …. INVERTED PILEDRIVER! Jason Payne with the cover … ONE ……… TWO …… KICKOUT!"
JIVE: "KRIST BLUE IS BACK AND SHE GRABBED MCMILLAN BY THE ASS!"
GHEORGHE: "Jesus Christ! It’s like she’s inherited MWG’s libido for tonight!"
JIVE: "McMillan swats her hand away and warns her as he walks away!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne gets up and he walks over to McMillan to find out what’s going on .. but ‘the Wolf’ tells him to go back to the match! Jason Payne back over to MWG …. ‘the Dog of War’ brings the Television champion up and he’s putting him on the top rope!"
JIVE: "If MWG keeps on taking this direct punishment, I hate to say it, but we could see a new champion."
GHEORGHE: "Payne starts going up top… BUT MWG WITH SOME SHOTS TO THE FACE! Payne forced to get back to the mat ….. AND MWG GRABS HIM BY THE HEAD! MWG …. WITH A SWINGING DDT!!!! BOTH MEN ARE LAID OUT ON THE MAT!"
(SFX: Crowd starts chanting ‘DOGS OF WAR! DOGS OF WAR!’)
JIVE: "The fans really want Payne to pull this one through as his ex-partner is here … what a moment that would be for the Dogs of War if he could …. And by that … I mean, who gives a fuck about the Dogs of War…. The war ended a LONG time ago …. and what we’re seeing now, in MWG, is the rise of a new establishment!"
GHEORGHE: "I think you’ve gone off the deep end, Nick.. that cow manure must have really messed you up."
JIVE: "NEVER MENTION WHAT HAPPENED TONIGHT EVER AGAIN!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne responding to the fans as he is starting to get to his feet … Payne grabs on to the ropes and pulls himself to his feet … and now the Television Champion is moving! MWG on his knees right now … and MWG is on his feet! Both men come to the center of the ring … Payne with a left hook …. BUT MWG SIDE STEPS IT! MWG GOES BEHIND JASON PAYNE … AND BRINGS HIM DOWN WITH A BACK SLIDE!!! ONE …………. TWO …………. THREE!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Jason Payne kicks out!"
JIVE: "MWG has consistently tried to outwrestle Jason Payne this match .. he’s showing he doesn’t need to use his opponent’s homophobia to his advantage here tonight!"
GHEORGHE: "Although Krist Blue is trying everything she can to get Chris McMillan to jump her…"
JIVE: "Krist Blue is straddling the ring steps!"
GHEORGHE: "Krist Blue has pulled the ring steps out … AND SHE IS STRADDLING THEM WITH HER FINGER IN HER MOUTH! McMillan is doing everything in his power to avoid looking at Blue … AND NOW SHE’s PULLING DOWN ONE OF HER SPAGHETTI STRAPS!"
JIVE: "YES! NOW DROP IT!"
GHEORGHE: "Chris McMillan looks at Krist Blue … AND NOW HE TAKES OFF HIS SHIRT!"
JIVE: "NO, NOT YOU!"
GHEORGHE: "McMillan walks over to Krist Blue …"
(SFX: Fans pop!)
GHEORGHE: "AND MCMILLAN TOSSES THE SHIRT TO BLUE AND TELLS HER TO PUT ON SOME CLOTHES!"
JIVE: "I bet he was discharged under the DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL policy!!!!!"
GHEORGHE: "McMillan now walks to the other side and turns to get the fans to start getting behind Jason Payne!"
JIVE: "When in reality, HE wants to get behind Jason Payne!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne and MWG meet in the middle of the ring … they lock up …. BUT MWG QUICKLY RAKES THE EYES OF JASON PAYNE!! Payne doubled over … MWG goes against the ropes …. AND SENDS PAYNE FLYING WITH A RUNNING KNEE LIFT! MWG with the cover …. ONE ………. TWO ………… KICKOUT!!"
JIVE: "Jason Payne just isn’t staying down, Tom! But we all know that MWG likes them frisky…."
GHEORGHE: "MWG has been wrestling a great match so far … and he’s proving that he has the technical skills to be the Television Champion. MWG back up … he sends Jason Payne chest first into the corner …. MWG coming in ….. BUT JASON PAYNE WITH A MULE KICK!!! MWG IS STUNNED! AND JASON PAYNE BRINGS MWG TO THE CORNER! JASON PAYNE SETS HIM UP ON THE TOP ROPE …….."
JIVE: "This could be it!! Jason Payne could be ending MWG’s title reign in just a few seconds!"
GHEORGHE: "Jason Payne signaling to the crowd that he’s going up top with MWG!!! JASON PAYNE CLIMBS THE FIRST ROPES ……………. BUT KRIST BLUE HAS A HOLD OF HIS FEET!!! BLUE HOLDING ON TO HIS FEET AND SHE IS NOT LETTING GO!!!"
JIVE: "Wait! Here comes McMillan!"
GHEORGHE: "McMillan running to the other side … AND HE IS CALLING FOR KRIST BLUE TO GIVE HIM A KISS!"
JIVE: "Oh that’s low … that’s reeaaaalll low!"
GHEORGHE: "AND KRIST BLUE LETS GO OF PAYNE’s LEGS!!! Jason Payne turns back around to face MWG …….. AND MWG POKES HIM IN THE EYES!!!"
JIVE: "Turns out McMillan was too late!!!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG PUSHES PAYNE OFF THE ROPES AND HE LANDS BACK FIRST ON THE MAT!!!"
JIVE: "And MWG IS GOING UP TOP!!!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG IS UP TOP …. AND HE’s GOING TO GO FOR THE MOONSAULT!!!"
JIVE: "Jason Payne is on his feet!!!!"
GHEORGHE: "PAYNE IS UP!!! JASON PAYNE CHARGES INTO THE CORNER ……….. BUT MWG FLIES OFF FOR THE MOONSAULT!!!!"
JIVE: "He landed on his feet!!!"
GHEORGHE: "MWG LANDS ON HIS FEET!! The Champion hooks the waist of Jason Payne ….. BUT PAYNE WITH THE REVERSAL!!! GERMAN SUPLEX WITH BRIDGE!!!!! ONE ……………….. TWO ………………….. THREEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
JIVE: "I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!! HE DID IT!!!!"
(SFX: Bell rings!!! The referee is quick to make it outside and grabs the belt.)
GHEORGHE: "I cannot believe it!! Jason Payne and Chris McMillan have reunited for this one night …. And the Dogs of War walk out victorious with the New ERA Television title!!!"
JACOBS: "Ladies and gentlemen ….. the referee has informed me that BOTH competitor’s shoulders were down for the three count …. And THEREFORE …. THE TELEVISION TITLE CANNOT BE AWARDED TO EITHER COMPETITOR!!!!"
(SFX: CROWD JEERS!)
JIVE: "WHAT?!"
GHEORGHE: "WAIT A MINUTE!!! Both Jason Payne and MWG’s SHOULDERS WERE DOWN!!! The referee isn’t awarding the title to EITHER competitor!! What the hell is going on here?!"
(REPLAY: Jason Payne reverses the go behind. He brings MWG over with the german suplex, and during the bridge, both MWG and Jason Payne’s shoulders are down. Payne gets a shoulder up, but its after the three count.)
GHEORGHE: "They were both down!"
JIVE: "BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE TELEVISION TITLE?!"
GHEORGHE: "I don’t know, Nick!! But we are out of time!! Thank you all for joining us for New ERA’s one year anniversary live from Winnipeg … we hope you’ll join us from Ottawa … MAYBE THEN WE’LL HAVE AN ANSWER!"
(FADEOUT: As the referee is explaining to Jason Payne why he will not give him the Television Title. In the background, MWG is sitting on the mat, shaking his head in disgust as he looks up at Jason Payne. FADETOBLACK.)
